Anil, a native of Mandya was declared brain dead at BGS Global Hospitals here on Thursday. His parents decided to donate his organs, informed Dr D Ramesh, secretary, Zonal Coordination Committee of Karnataka (ZCCK) for transplant. His liver, kidneys and eyes were harvested at the hospital early on Friday.
While liver and one kidney were given to the Hospital, another kidney was donated to Command Hospital and the eyes were gifted to Lion’s Eye Bank. According to ZCCK, Anil was admitted on Wednesday with severe head injury sustained in a motorbike accident.
He was brought to Nimhans and shifted to BGS Global Hospitals on the same day. Anil's parents took the body to their hometown in the afternoon. Anil's younger brother had died sometime back.
