One of Brijesh Patel’s trusted lieutenents and long-serving KSCA administrator R Sudhakar Rao has his task cut out in his capacity as association’s interim secretary.

Rao, who was elected the vice president during last KSCA polls in December 2013, was also the state senior selection committee chairman, a position he had relinquish following his elevation as the secretary here at Thursday’s Emergent Managing Committee meeting.

The former Karnataka batsman’s immediate task is the smooth conduct of the two high-profile international matches scheduled to be held in the space of next two months. The Chinnaswamy stadium will host England in the third T20I on February 1 while Australia will play India in the second of the four Test series from March 4.

“The two international matches are our immediate priorities,” said Rao. “We have some minor stadium works to be completed before those matches. Plus, some projects are on in districts which we want to make sure aren’t affected in the changed circumstances.” he said.

Rao, along with interim president Sanjay Desai, will also have to oversee the transition in KSCA power structure in the aftermatch of Supreme Court verdict, ordering the implementation of the Lodha committee recommendations.
