Two persons were killed and two injured after a speeding lorry crashed into a roadside tent near Archakarahalli in Ramanagaram on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway on Saturday.

The police said the deceased are Anil, 25, and Dinesh, 30. The injured are Govind and Rekha, wife of Dinesh. They are natives of Gujarat and were staying in tents by the side of the highway.  They made a living by making cricket bats and other carved wooden articles.

Around 2 am, the driver of a lorry drove over the road divider and crashed into the tent. The vehicle came to a halt after running over Anil, Dinesh, Rekha and Govind. Their friends, who were asleep in other tents, woke up due to the commotion.

They shifted them to a government hospital where Anil and Dinesh were declared brought dead and Rekha and Govind are in critical condition, said the police.
