Jumbo tramples deaf, mute farmer to death

A 45-year-old physically challenged farmer was trampled to death by a stray elephant at his farm in Kodihalli in Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagaram district on Wednesday morning.

Gopal, who was deaf and mute, was living in Kodihalli along with his wife and two children. On Wednesday morning, a wild elephant trampled him to death when he had gone to his field to water mulberry plants, said the police.

The incident came to light when the members of his family went looking for Gopal as he did not return home. They alerted the forest officials and the Kodihalli police.
