Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri said the process of creating the Master Plan-2031 has started and people’s suggestions are being taken. “We have set a target of six months to prepare the master plan and its draft within a month. Before that, we need people’s feedback which they can give in any form within a month,” he said.

He told reporters on the sidelines on the first public consultation in Bommanahalli zone on Bannerghatta Road that the outcome and response from people has been promising, especially in the field of transportation, Metro, integrated road network, lakes, environment protection, vertical development and housing.

He said the work on preparing the master plan started two years ago and what has been presented before people is the pre-draft of the master plan. “We will again come back to the people with the draft. This draft will incorporate suggestions collected from people through public consultations. The draft will then be placed for scrutiny and a final master plan will be created,” he said.

Mahendra Jain, Additional Chief Secretary, urban development department, said vertical growth was the answer. In the new TDR, innovative financing schemes have been incorporated. There is a need to decongest the city and shift development to the outskirts.
