JOIN USPickpockets arrested in Banaswadi 'molestation' case
The Banaswadi police arrested two persons on Friday in a molestation case that took place on the night of January 4.
One of the two men on a bike, pulled the T-shirt of a woman returning home from gym at Banaswadi. The arrested are Anil alias Mubarak (21), the bike rider, and Nanda (30), the pillion rider, who pulled the victim’s dress that led to her fall.
Anil is a resident of KG Halli, and Nanda is a resident of DJ Halli. The duo are habitual pickpockets, mobile thieves and robbers.
The victim had registered a case of molestation with the Banaswadi police. Police identified Nanda from a CCTV footage in colour obtained from the Royal Enfield showroom, a little further from the spot where the incident took place.
Following a spurt in the number of crime cases after the New Year incident, Nanda was among the several offenders picked up by the East division police for interrogation. Anil confessed that he tried to snatch the victim’s bag and did not molest her.
The victim identified Nanda on Friday morning and the police formally arrested Nanda and Anil and remanded them in judicial custody.
The two were booked for attempt to robbery and the victim was counselled and reassured that it was a robbery attempt.
