Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Saturday that the government would conduct a resurvey of the physically challenged to extend facilities to the needy among them.
He was speaking at a programme to formally distribute mobility aids to select physically challenged persons at the Vidhana Soudha.
Siddaramaiah said about 3% of the total population in Karnataka were physically challenged. The resurvey would help more people get government assistance. Financial support such as monthly assistance and honorarium to differently abled persons would be increased, the chief minister said.
Salary hike
In addition, teachers in schools with physically challenged students would get higher salaries. A provision to this effect would be made in the budget, he said.
Women and Child Development Minister Umashree said soon, the government would distribute 2,000 three-wheelers to disabled persons.
