The first Digi Dhan Mela in the state held in Bengaluru on Monday received a good response with the young and the old seeking information on various modes of digital transactions.

The mela is being held in various cities by the Centre in association with state governments to popularise digital transactions and it was Bengaluru’s turn on Monday.

The day-long mela had around 50 stalls. Various banks displayed and also registered customers for digital transaction schemes. There were also kiosks for Aadhaar registration, enrolment for RuPay cards, private m-wallet service and mobile money.

The organisers said the footfall crossed 5,000 by evening. The most vocal at the mela were the farmers from villages around Bengaluru, who were informed about the mela through fertiliser companies.

Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda held the draw for ‘Lucky Grahak Yojana’ for customers and the ‘Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana’ for merchants, which are cash reward schemes to those who have made cashless transactions.  Three more cities in the state -  Mangaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad and Kalaburagi - have been chosen for the mela.
