Karnataka State Women’s Commission chairperson Nagalakshmi Bai on Sunday said that the Commission has registered a suo motu case of harassment against H Y Meti, who resigned as Excise minister after a video of his sexual escapades became public a few weeks ago.
The Commission has taken up a suo motu case against the former minister based on media reports of the said the incident. The Commission has been making efforts to get in touch with the ‘harassed’ woman. However, there has been no response from the woman and also her whereabouts are not known to us, Nagalakshmi told journalists here.
She said she has written to the Bagalkot superintendent of police to provide protection to the woman. After the Criminal Investigation Department completes its enquiry into the case, the Commission will obtain its report and take appropriate action, she added.
