The Bosnian band ‘Dubioza Koektiv’ will perform at The Humming Tree on February 1, 9 pm. The Bosnian band will be on a five-city tour of India. Voted as the number one live act by European festivals at the ‘2016 Eurosonic Festival, Dubioza Kolektiv’ have had quite an eventful year with the world tour to promote their album, ‘Happy Machine’, which has seen the band play in over 50 cities from SXSW in the US to the UK, mainland Europe and Australia.

Formed in 2003 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, when the entire region was reeling from deep moral and economic stagnation, no music industry, few concerts, and no space for cultural or political expression, ‘Dubioza Kolektiv’ created quite a phenomenon by kicking and screaming, presenting no-go topics front and center, and demanding to be heard.

Along with local Balkan flavours, musical influences came from all over the world: Ska, Punk, Reggae, Electronic, Hip-Hop and many of Dubioza Kolektiv’s lyrics revolve around themes of peace, understanding and tolerance, alongside an extreme criticism of injustice; but what gives these lyrics weight is that they speak with the authority of direct experience.
