Enforcement Directorate to attach more assets of Jayachandra

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has decided to attach more properties belonging to S CJayachandra, the suspended project officer of State Highways Development Project, who is now in the judicial custody. Three days ago, the ED had attached Jayachandra’s properties worth Rs 25 crore in and around Bengaluru and Chitradurga.

Most of these properties are in the names of his wife, cousin and mother-in-law. The ED sleuths have decided to attach properties worth Rs 50 crore that belongs to Jayachandra. The process will begin once the consent is given by the ED chief commissioner in Delhi, sources in the agency said. The ED had registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against Jayachandra after an Income Tax department raid on him for stashing Rs 2,000 notes immediately after the demonetisation. The officers had unearthed  properties worth Rs 250 crore amassed by Jayachandra.
