JOIN US A two-day workshop on various programmes of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department that began here on Friday evoked a poor response from MLCs. Only seven of the 25 invited MLCs attended the workshop.
Officials said that 25 MLCs were invited for the first phase of the programme. To make the event effective, the programme is scheduled in three phases with each batch comprising 25 MLCs.
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H K Patil said the workshop has been organised to provide first-hand information to the MLCs on various programmes of the department. Many MLCs had urged the minister to conduct the workshop during the legislature session held in Belagavi and the Legislative Council chairman D H Shankaramurthy too had supported the suggestion.
