The police have seized 12 guns and arrested a person. The arrested is Ramesh Achari.
Shankar Achari and another accused have fled the spot. They were manufacturing guns in a shed in the estate. Police have also seized other items used for gun manufacture. Even though Ramesh held a licence for repairing the guns, the term of the licence had expired few months back. The accused was produced before the court which remanded him to judicial custody.
Undertrial held
Udupi DCIB and police arrested an undertrial who had fled from the Ajjarakadu government hospital on April 24.
The undertrail Lakshmeesha, a native of Manjeshwara in Kasargod was arrested while attempting to rob Syndicate Bank at Nandikur. However, he fled from the hospital while getting treatment by assaulting Police constable Guruprasad.
Woman drowns
A woman slipped and drowned in river while picking shell fish at Bajal Bolla on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Narayani (70).
