Man dies of 'monkey fever'

A 65-year-old man Kudupa, a native of Bekse-Kenjigudde village under Kudumallige gram panchayat, died of suspected Kyasanur Forest Disease, also known as monkey fever, while on his way to the hospital on Tuesday.

According to taluk health officer Kiran, Kudupa was suffering from fever for the past few days. He breathed his last on his way to McGann Hospital in Shivamogga. This is said to be the second death due to monkey fever in the taluk. Sheshappa Naik, a resident of Chiduva village, had died of suspected monkey fever on January 30.
