NovaPlay, a gaming platform, is planning to rollout its mobile version in the next couple of months.

“We are already on the Personal Computer (PC) platform, and it is doing really well. We will be rolling out the mobile build soon,” NovaPlay CEO Amitesh Rao told DH.

The company, which aims to discover, purchase and download games, aims to build over 20 million strong gaming community in three years, with annualised revenues of $25 million.

Calling the mobile gaming market as a “scattered” one in nature, Rao said, “We started late on mobile partly because of economic reasons and partly because of credibility reasons. PC gamers are lot more dedicated, and they engage a lot more with the community.”

The company, which raised $1 million in the angel investor round, is planning to raise close to $3 million from venture capitalists. “We are already in talks with venture capitalists. We would need around $3 million over the next three years to run the mobile build smoothly.”

The company, in July 2016, hosted the ‘SuperNova Gaming Carnival’ in Bengaluru. SuperNova, a first-of-its-kind initiative, brought together pro gaming and eSports with popular mainstream culture, engaged more than 3,80,000 gamers across India, and saw a participation of  more than 2,000 gamers at the event.

Rao also emphasised on the need for laws in the gaming industry.

He also said that they are in the process of setting up an industry body – Federation of eSport Tournaments.

“We will be setting it up in the next couple of months. We have already received the government certification for it. Its charter is very simple – to promote and build the culture of eSports in India,” he added.
