All rural development organisations must utilise the latest technology for the economic, social and educational development of their members, said Nabard, Mumbai, chairman Dr Harshakumar Banwala.
He was speaking after launching the mobile phone application SKDRDP-SHG app, for Self Help Group bank linkage at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala on Wednesday.
Lauding the efforts of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala towards the same, he said that there are 80 lakh self help groups in the country and Nabard is planning to digitise the transactions of these groups. There is a need to implement modern technology at national-level, he said.
Banwala further felt a need to provide good market facilities for agricultural products. He advised farmers to go for drip irrigation for better utilisation of water resource.
Corporation Bank executive director G M Bhagat distributed tablet phones to the field supervisors of SKDRDP.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade presided over the programme. Hemavati V Heggade, SKDRDP executive director Dr H L Manjunath and Nabard chief general manager M I Ganagi were present.
