There are only a few things that touch the soul as deeply as food does. And even within this wide universe of food, there are certain clear winners — gastric pleasures that are loved by anyone and everyone; an example being the burger. In recognition of this humble food, Chili’s American Grill & Bar has launched a new menu dedicated only to the burger.

The ‘Art of the Burger’ menu has five options — ‘Magnificent meat and shrimp burger’, ‘Bacon perfection burger’, ‘pico pork and pickles burger’, ‘The shrimp masterpiece’ and ‘Pork pineapple and passion bites’.

Of these, the last two are available in vegetarian alternatives also. However, the limited number of choices can be a bit of a dampener for the ‘green lovers’.

The items are artfully created and sculpted using fresh flavours and a colourful variety of ingredients.

The dishes have attempted to be as distinct as possible within the limited realm of the burger. All burgers are served with mildly toasted buttered buns, a range of seasonings and two flavours of fries — either ‘Chimi parmesan’ or ‘Garlic parmesan’.

As for the burgers, they include a range of options like buffalo meat, shrimp patty, minced chicken, smoked bacon, pork and so on that have been mixed and matched to give a delicious twist to the classic meal.

The flavour is accentuated by a liberal amount of cheese and other additions like chipotle aioli, pico de gallo, lettuce, tomato, onion coleslaw and so on. The portions are more than generous and make for a filling repast.

It takes a while for the food to come so you can as well work up an appetite for those burgers while you wait.

Start your meal with freshly made crispy ‘Masa fries’ which is also available with topping of smoked chicken.

The fries have a homemade feel and taste and the chicken adds a flavourful touch to this dish. However, going for starters is really not recommended if you plan to gorge on those whopping burgers later on unless you are starving.

No meal is ever complete without a sweet touch and staying true to this, the new menu also has a ‘Dessert and shakes’ section which includes a ‘Raspberry chocolate cake’ and three types of mikshakes.The ‘Molten shake’ is made with Chili’s signature dessert — the ‘Molten Chocolate Cake’ while the ‘Coffee toffee shake’ is capped with toffee pieces.

Opt for the ‘Horchata shake’ only if you are a big fan of cinnamon; the taste of the spice is somewhat overpowering.

And for those of you who are in no mood to experiment, you can always turn to the old menu with its plentiful supply of appetizers, soups, salads, quesadillas, chicken and seafood entrees, fajitas, ribs, steaks and desserts.

The outlet of Chili’s in Indiranagar is a fairly big place with a pleasant ambience. A huge television screen plays old English classics which are sure to take you on a trip down memory lane. Usually, the first floor is open for the public and while the space may seem to be a little bit cramped, once you tuck into the food, you forget about that.
