Kammanahalli molestation victim identifies culprits

The police finally persuaded the victim of Kammanahalli molestation case to turn up for the identification parade at Parappana Agrahara central prison on Tuesday.

The victim identified the accused, Aiyappa and Lenin alias Leno, in the presence of an inquest official – a tahsildar. The victim also identified others who were part of the gang.

The police had failed in their three previous attempts to convince the victim to appear for the identification parade. “In the best interest of the case where the crime committed was clear on CCTV footage and sparked nationwide outrage, we did not want the case to have loose ends with the victim’s non-cooperation, which is understandably due to her own safety and security concerns,” the police said.

In the early hours of January 1, Aiyappa and Lenin followed the victim on their bike after she alighted from an auto-rickshaw near her PG in Kammanahalli. The duo molested her and pushed her to the ground when she resisted.
