BJP workers lay siege to Nada Kacheri against poor relief works

Scores of BJP workers laid siege to the Nada Kacheri at Sakharayapatna, Kadur taluk, on Wednesday, accusing the district administration of failing to ensure adequate drinking water supply and feed for livestock in the wake of drought in the district.

H C Kalmurudappa, state executive committee member of the party, who led the protesters, highlighted that the drinking water crisis has surfaced at Sakharayapatna, S Bidare, Pillenahalli, Nagenahalli, Banur and Hulikere villages, where the farmers are finding it equally difficult to feed their livestock.

Venting his ire on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Kalmurudappa said that the chief minister is busy indulging in tactics to retain his chair, while being blatantly ignorant towards the agrarian community. Although an opposition leader then, he undertook a padayatra against corruption from Bengaluru to Ballari, only to find himself in the same situation now, with corruption charges tumbling out with the recent diary episode, said the leader.

Kalmurudappa also warned of staging aggressive protest in the later days, if the deputy commissioner fails to open a fodder bank and goshala in the district at the earliest. The tahsildar, although informed of the protest, stayed away from the Nada Kacheri during the protest, he alleged further.

Earlier, the protesters arrived in a rally from traveller’s bungalow, along with farmers and livestock passing through main thoroughfares of the town.
