Try on make-up and outfits under different lights ahead of the big day. Choose to go bold with your eye make-up and use long-stay products, advises Manisha Chopra

The wedding season is up and about with all the dhol, baaja and baaraat and lo! Your best friend too decides to take the plunge.

The bride is bound to be the cynosure of all eyes on the occasion, with someone taking care of every minute detail like the colour of her nails to the size of her bindi, to make her look resplendent and radiant. Being the bride’s best friend, it is important that you grab eyeballs too and look the second prettiest at the wedding.

While you’re not under pressure to spend those extra bucks and hire a beautician, you can do your own make-up and look flawless all day (and night) long. Here are a few tips to make you look drop dead gorgeous on your BFF’s wedding:

Experiment with your looks

As you have decided to be your own make-up artist, you can now easily experiment with your looks at zero cost. Prior to your bestie’s wedding, conduct multiple trials at home with your beauty essentials along with your attire.

Do not forget to click pictures under different kinds of lighting to understand which make-up will suit your face and skin tone, the best. This way, you will be able to figure out whether to tone down your makeup or not.

Cleansing and moisturising

Make sure you cleanse and moisturise your skin well before you apply any kind of make-up. The moisturiser will act as a base to the make-up applied and prevent it from settling into your wrinkles and fine lines. After you are done with moisturising your skin, use a primer as it helps blur all imperfections and makes your make-up last longer.

Use products that are long stay

Long lasting and waterproof products are a must if you want the make-up to last the whole day. After all, it is you best friend’s wedding, which means you need to be present for all the functions from morning to evening.

From mehendi to sagan to the cocktail party, you will have a long day ahead of you. So, use products that can help in keeping your make-up intact through the sweat, dust, tears, and hugs.

Keep a damp sponge handy

Apply your foundation with a damp sponge or brush, as this will give a sheer finish to your look. Avoid using your hands while applying foundation, as it can leave fingerprints that will ruin the finish. Choose the right foundation that matches your skin tone and can hide your wrinkles and pores.

Blend the foundation well onto your jaw line, neck and chest. The blemishes or spots that remain on your face after the application of foundation can be hidden with the help of a concealer.

Enhance your eye make-up

The right eye make-up can transform your entire look. Therefore, it is necessary to use the right products to make your eyes and brows stand out.

Fill in your brow with a brow pencil that is a shade or two lighter than your original colour. Use some shimmer in the inner corner of your eyes and opt for darker eye shadows on the outside. If you are used to nude shadows, then retain the same with some shimmer and lay off the darker shades if that's not what you are used to.

It is advisable to keep most of your makeup natural. A caked-up face takes away the charm and can ruin your entire look. Keep your make-up as simple as possible and stay beautiful.
