Playschool ordered to close over kids' molestation

The pre-primary school in Bellandur where a supervisor allegedly molested several children has been ordered to close by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

In its order, the department noted that when officials visited the school after the incident was reported, they discovered that the school had not been registered. The department has asked the management to make alternative arrangements for the students in other registered schools. It asks for a report on the action taken to be submitted to the block education officer.

The preschool came under the scanner after the parents of a three-year-old filed a complaint against the authorities and a supervisor for sexual abuse. Later, other parents came forward saying their children had also been abused by the supervisor. In all, six children were molested by him, it is said.
