Police get custody of ATM attacker

Madhukar Reddy, the suspect in the attack on bank employee Jyoti Uday at an ATM, was remanded in eight-day police custody by a local court on Tuesday.

The police said Reddy was brought from Chittoor jail (Andhra Pradesh) on Monday morning on body warrant. On Tuesday, the SJ Park police took him to Victoria Hospital, where he underwent medical examination. Later, he was taken to an undisclosed location, where he was interrogated for a while. In the afternoon, he was produced before the 6th ACMM court and was remanded in police custody till March 14.

Reddy will be taken to the spot where he attacked Jyoti on November 19, 2013, and the scene will be recreated. The weapon used during the attack and the clothes he was wearing that day will be seized. Reddy will be subjected to an identification parade in the presence of Jyoti, police said.

The Corporation Bank employee was attacked inside the ATM at NR Square, near Corporation Circle, when she was drawing money. The attack was captured in the CCTV camera and the footage went viral. Over 500 police personnel were involved in the efforts to nab the suspect. The city police had filed a ‘C’ report in the case, which will be reopened now. Recently, he was arrested by the Madanapalle police (Andhra Pradesh) as he was wanted in several cases.
