Will put govt on the mat over steel flyover: Shettar

BJP leader Jagadish Shettar said on Thursday his party would take the Siddaramaiah government head-on  during the legislature session over the steel flyover
issue involving the reported payoff of Rs 65 crore.

Addressing a press conference here, Shettar said the Congress government was very firm on implementing the steel flyover. But it gave up the project after MLC K Govindaraj’s diary indicated that bribe been paid to the family of Siddaramaiah.

“At the outset, it looks like the bribe had been paid. The BJP will protest over the issue,” the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly said.

He said the government was not forthcoming in sharing info regarding money spent on various projects. “My office had sought information regarding allocations in the last budget and spending. Many departments haven’t replied,” he said.

He said the state was reeling under severe drought. The government must come out with a white paper on the money spent on relief works, he said.
