Taking their demand for more buses and low fares forward, volunteers of ‘Bus Bhagya Beku’ campaign met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday.

Members of Bengaluru Bus Prayanikara Vedike and Citizens for Bengaluru asked Siddaramaiah to include ‘Bus Bhagya’ in the budget.

“He listened to our demands for reducing bus fares by up to half and doubling the number of buses. He has agreed to consider our demands presented in the memorandum along with the things we discussed during our meetings,” Srinivas Alavilli of the Citizens for Bengaluru said in a statement.

“We believe that the Congress government can bring significant changes to the city by encouraging ordinary citizens to use buses to commute. Buses are not just for commuting from one place to another, but help individuals to access education, livelihood and healthcare,” he added. Many MLAs have also supported the campaign.
