MLAs' attendance to be monitored

Last Updated 14 March 2017, 19:38 IST

The attendance record of members of the Assembly will now be read out by the Speaker at the end of each day’s sitting. Members will have to sign the attendance register kept in the lobby twice every day — once during the first hour of the sitting and then again after lunch.

Addressing a press conference on the eve of the budget session, Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad said the measures are taken to ensure the presence and participation of members in legislative business. Similarly, the attendance of ministers will also be monitored. “At the end of each day of the session, the attendance of the members and ministers will be compiled and shared with the media so that it reaches the people.” Koliwad said.
