Cops fire at rowdy who attacked them

The Byatarayanapura police opened fire on a history sheeter who attacked them when they went to arrest him near Kengeri-Sonnenahalli link road on Tuesday night.

A senior police officer said, “Nagendra alias Nama, 24, a history sheeter with Chamarajpet police station, was wanted in several cases of theft, robbery, dacoity and attempt to murder. He is involved in more than 14 cases. On Tuesday night, when the police went to arrest him, he attacked Byatarayanapura inspector Shivaswamy and constable Naveen with a machete. The inspector fired at Nagendra’s leg,” added officer.

The police personnel were shifted to a private hospital and are out of danger. Nagendra was rushed to another hospital and is in a stable condition.
