South United down AGORC

South United clinched a 2-1 win over Accountants General's Office Recreation Club (AGORC) in the BDFA Super Division League at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Wednesday.

After a goalless first period, United got their act together and took the lead through Subash in the 54th minute. Pawan soon doubled their advantage with a goal in the 73rd minute.

AGORC, however, earned a consolation goal, when Dada Nabeel found the back of the net in the injury time (90+1).

United are sixth in the table with 12 points from eight games while AGORC, having collected just four points from eight, continue to languish in the ninth place.

Title-decider

Meanwhile, Army Service Corps (ASC) & Centre and Madras Engineer Group (MEG) & Centre will face each other in a potentially title-deciding clash on Thursday.

ASC, placed second (17 points, 8 games) and three points behind Students Union, can clinch the title if they win by a two-goal margin. Students have completed their league assignments.
MEG, who are close third with 16 points but having played just seven games, cannot afford to lose any of their remaining two matches. If MEG pull off a win against ASC and draw against AGORC on March 18 in their final game then goal-difference will come into play. If MEG win both their games, they would emerge champions.

Students will have to hope the ASC-MEG clash ends in a draw and the Sappers fail to win their concluding game for them to wear the crown.

In the ‘A’ Division, Parikrma registered a hard-fought 2-1 win over Bangalore United FC.
Ravibabu R opened the scoring for Parikrma in the 13th minute but Islom levelled the scores for BUFC with a strike in the 43rd minute. Chiranjeevi then netted the winner in the 73rd minute to help Parikrma claim full three points.

Results: Super Division: South United: 2 (Subash 54th, Pawan 73rd) bt AGORC: 1 (Dada Nabeel 90+1)

‘A’ Division: Parikrma: 2 (Ravibabu R 13th, Chiranjeevi 73rd) bt BUFC: 1 (Islom 43rd).
