The National Investigation Agency special court in Jaipur, for the second time deferred awarding sentence to two convicts in the 2007 Ajmer dargah blast case on Saturday. The verdict is now slated for March 22.

After a brief argument by defence lawyer J S Rana, NIA Special Judge Dinesh Kumar Gupta adjourned the case. The sentence is to be awarded to Bhavesh Patel and Devendra Gupta. The third convict, Sunil Joshi – a former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak – was murdered in December 2007.

On March 8, the NIA court had acquitted seven accused, including Aseemanand and Bharat Mohan, and convicted three others for the 2007 blast, which had killed three people and injured 15. Convicts Bhavesh Patel and Devendra Gupta, who are in judicial custody, were brought to the witness box when the case was argued.
