<p> Former chief minister S M Krishna will join the BJP in the presence of the party’s national president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday. <br /><br />Senior BJP leader R Ashoka, on Tuesday, called on Krishna at the latter’s residence in Bengaluru and handed over a formal invitation from the party’s state president B S Yeddyurappa to join the BJP.<br /><br />The ‘muhurta’ for the induction has been fixed at 5 pm at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. Krishna, 84, had recently quit the Congress, saying he had been sidelined in the party. He had said the party was in a “state of confusion” on whether it needed mass leaders or not.<br /><br />He was in Delhi last week, but his induction into the party could not materialise as his sister passed away. <br /><br />“We are planning a grand welcome for Krishna at the Kempegowda International Airport when he reaches Bengaluru. He is likely to return on Thursday and a bike rally will be taken out from the airport to the BJP office in Malleswaram,” Ashoka said.<br />Asked whether any of Krishna’s close associates will join the BJP on Wednesday, Ashoka replied in the negative. “That will happen at a later stage,” he said. Ashoka will accompany Krishna to Delhi. <br /><br />Union Ministers Ananth Kumar, D V Sadananda Gowda and Yeddyurappa will be present at the party headquarters at 11, Ashoka Road, when Krishna is inducted into the party.<br /></p>
