Hotel fed beef to cows, claims Jaipur mayor

Jaipur’s Mayor Ashok Lahoti has claimed that Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) officials were sent on Sunday night to “seize”

Hotel Hayat Rabbani as it was allegedly feeding beef to cows. In a WhatsApp message on a group chat, Lahoti claimed JMC officials were sent at 11 pm to “seal” the hotel for its “misadventure” of feeding beef to “gau mata”.

When DH contacted Lahoti, he confirmed the message. However, he claimed that the JMC staff were sent because the hotel  violated norms and did not have a restaurant licence. While the Jaipur Police is yet to send food samples collected from the hotel to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), social groups have criticised newly elected Mayor and BJP member Ashok Lahoti's text message.
