<p> Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to bring tur under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) in the state.<br /><br />In a letter to Narendra Modi, copies of which were released to the press, Siddaramaiah said that the state produced a record 7.13 lakh metric tonnes of tur in 2016-17 which is 135% higher compared to the previous year.<br /><br />1.63 lakh farmers register<br /><br />He said 1.63 lakh farmers have registered for sale of tur in the state. <br />The state government has purchased tur from 67,090 farmers as on March 20, leaving out 95,928 farmers.<br /><br />Siddaramaiah has sought the Centre’s intervention to come to aid of farmers and increase the procurement of tur under PSS till May 15 this year.<br /><br /></p>
