A man in his late 20s, claiming to be an assistant director on an upcoming Kannada film, has filed a police complaint against the family of his live-in partner. He has accused them of stealing a film script he was working on and forcibly taking his partner away.

Srikara, who hails from Thirthahalli, Shivamogga district, said the parents and relatives of his partner Suman (name changed) showed up at his house in HSR Layout on Saturday night on the “pretext” of sorting out certain differences. They instead caused a ruckus and assaulted him. They walked off with his educational and “marriage’ certificates, laptop, photographs and the script of the upcoming film ‘Doctor Modi’, besides forcibly taking Suman away.

According to Srikara, Suman’s family, which hails from Mulbagal, Kolar, hadn’t warmed up to his relationship with her. They said his status was “not up to the mark” and tried to break the relationship by “brainwashing” Suman, he alleged. He said he had met Suman through a matrimonial website. They started dating and became intimate. Srikara claimed that he married Suman at a temple one-and-a-half years ago. He said he was writing the script for Upendra-starrer ‘Doctor Modi’ while Suman worked for a private firm.

Srikara also accused Suman’s parents of forcing her to abort the pregnancy twice. He has urged police to take action against the family and reunite him with Suman. The HSR Layout police have opened a case of assault and robbery.
