<p>The Mangaluru Central-Chennai Central superfast train service was operated with electric engine from Mangaluru from Friday. <br /><br />After the completion of electrification of Charvattur-Mangaluru section, this was the first train that started its journey on electric traction. <br /><br />It may be recalled that K A Manoharan, commissioner of Railway Safety (Southern circle), Bengaluru, had conducted the statutory inspection of the newly-electrified railway line between Chervathur-Mangaluru in Palakkad Division of Southern Railway on March 11. <br /><br />The running time of trains between Mangaluru and the South is expected to improve considerably as electrification eliminates changing of locos from diesel to electrical at Shoranur. <br /><br /></p>
