V-Guard Industries bets big on design

Kochi-based V-Guard Industries, a consumer electrical and electronics company, which makes water heaters and voltage stabilisers, is looking forward to develop products based on new design and innovation.

“If you look at our overall business scope, we are the market leader in the stabiliser category and are among the top players in the water heater category. There are large categories like fans, inverter batteries and pumps, in which we are working on becoming one among the top players,” V-Guard Industries COO V Ramachandran told DH.

“We are working on design and innovation — the two major levers through which we can achieve more market share, which has a potential to make us market leaders achieve our brand objectives and meet our revenue goals,” Ramachandran added. He was in the city to launch an inverter which can be operated through a mobile smartphone and priced in the range of Rs 10,900 to Rs 18,990.

“We are relatively a new entrant in the inverter category, compared with other established players. We have been constantly striving to create products based on consumer needs which will help us differentiate our offerings from established competitors,” he said.

“As a company, we are looking to leveraging technology by focusing on smart and connected themes. Earlier, we had launched Verano, our IoT (Internet of Things) based water heater, and this inverter launch is part of our continuing efforts to bring in IoT enabled and thoughtfully engineered products to the market,” he added. The company has a 100-member strong R&D team and the R&D lab has been certified by DSIR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research).

Talking about the contribution from small towns, he said, “Presently, we have a strong presence in Tier II and Tier III towns than metros. We are strong in the metros in south, but in the non-south market, we are just entering the metros. They are crowded markets, it takes path breaking products to get into that market.”
