Task force to decide on opening Goshalas, says C T Ravi

Last Updated 10 April 2017, 18:18 IST

MLA C T Ravi said a resolution to open Goshalas will be taken in the task force meeting and it will be sent to the deputy commissioner. He was speaking at a Bagair Hukum Committee meeting at Mini Vidhana Soudha here on Monday.

The issue of the possibility of opening Goshalas has been discussed and the deputy commissioner has agreed to take measures if the task force approves the opening of the Goshalas, he added. The resolution will be once again brought to the notice of the deputy commissioner. There is an urgent necessity of Goshalas to provide fodder for the cattle.

Many villages have not been supplied fodder even in the first round. Not even 10% of the demand for the fodder has been met in the district. As the fodder has not been supplied, the opening of Gaushala is inevitable, he said.

Due to the acute shortage of fodder, farmers are feeding areca sheaths to the cattle. The seriousness of the situation has been conveyed to the deputy commissioner. The district in-charge minister should have visited the district, Ravi said.

He said 262 applications in Chikkamagaluru and 36 in Kadur taluk have been cleared with respect to the sanctioning of Bagair Hukum lands. The pending 400 applications in the first phase will be disposed of by month-end and all the applications are expected to be cleared before September, he added. Tahsdilar Shivanna and other officials were present.
