Man 'kills' wife over obscene message in her phone

A 32-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her husband in Thalaghattapura on Kanakapura Road on Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Vasantha. She was working at a VLCC slimming and fitness centre. She had married to Muniraju (34), an autorickshaw driver, 15 years ago. It was a love marriage and the couple had two sons aged 10 and 7 years. The  children had gone to their grandparents house for summer vacation when the murder took place, the police said.

According to the police, Vasantha used to get objectionable messages on her mobile phone and Muniraju who came across such messages used to fight with Vasantha, suspecting her character. On Wednesday night, following one such message on her phone, the couple had a quarrel. The quarrel soon turned physical and in the melee Muniraju took a knife and stabbed Vasantha repeatedly, killing her on the spot. The Thalaghattapura police have arrested Muniraju.
