The Italian way

Last Updated 14 April 2017, 18:51 IST

Creamy pastas, thin-crust pizzas and lip-smacking desserts to conclude the experience — this is what  ‘The Pizzeria’ in Banaswadi can proudly boast of. An explosion of flavours awaits one at the humble eatery, which opened in 2013. It offers Bengalureans a wholesome Italian experience.

Royce Mervin Fernandes, owner of the eatery, says. “The whole idea was to introduce Italian cuisine in small portions, be it pizzas, desserts or salads. The pizzas are the highlight of the place as the name suggests. We serve only thin-crust pizzas with fresh ingredients sourced from the local market. We avoid frozen items.”

Available in nine-inch and 11-inch sizes, the pizzas come in a variety of items. “We have several options for the non-vegetarians and vegetarians. Some of our most popular ones are ‘Kamarina’, ‘Sicilia’ in the vegetarian, and ‘Malgan’ and ‘Sirona’ in the non-vegetarian section,” he says.

The eatery only serves thin-crust pizzas, which are crispier and offers a different experience with every bite, he adds.

There are interesting starters like ‘Masala garlic bread’ for those who would like to begin a full-fledged meal with a light bite. There are also some hot soup options like ‘Italian tomato soup’ among others, for those who like starting a meal the traditional way. Apart from the pizzas which are the highlight of the place, the eatery also has interesting starters and wholesome options in pasta and ‘lasagna’. “Our pastas use a creamy sauce which most people love. For the vegetarians, there are options like the ‘Metauro’ and ‘Pasta Barbaresca’, while for the non-vegetarians ‘Galliano’ and ‘Armelino’ top the list,” says Royce.

Those who would like to indulge in ‘lasagna’, there are the chicken and cheese options. One can end a grand meal here with some sweet treats like ‘Cream Caramel’ and ‘Chocolate Bomb’. “They are quite popular among our customers,” he adds. To wash down the meal, the eatery also offers some fruit-based coolers and mocktails like ‘Virgin Mojito’ and the ‘Pizzeria Special’. With an open-view concept, this eatery which has a capacity of 24 seats, sees a mixed crowd. “The cool ambience brings people from all ages and all walks of life here.

From young professionals to families, our customer base is widespread,” he says with a smile. The eatery is located at 356, first floor, 4th Cross, OMBR Layout, Banaswadi. ‘The Pizzeria’ is open from 12 pm to 10.30 pm.
