UoM acting VC accused of visiting girls' hostel 'often'

In-charge Vice Chancellor of the University of Mysore (UoM) Dayanand Mane has been accused of frequently visiting the girls’ hostel citing trivial issues.

Registrar R Rajanna is said to have written a letter to Higher Education Minister Basavaraja Rayareddy, attaching a CCTV camera footage, in this regard.

Wardens and a group of girls in the hostel have alleged that the in-charge VC visits the hostel twice or thrice a day. The students have charged that he enters the hostel and walks around in the corridors during odd hours.

Mane, while admitting his visits to the hostels, claimed that he had done it only on two occasions. He said the visits were with regard to checking the quality of food and to arranging for ceiling fans in the rooms. He suspected a conspiracy being hatched against him by a section of the officials in the university.

Meanwhile, a section of hostel students has termed the allegations baseless.
