How can a fire be contained with utmost urgency and precision at the Kempegowda International Airport? This was on everyone's mind as the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team demonstrated different ways of doing it to taxi drivers at the KIA premises on Wednesday.

The demonstration was part of the Fire Prevention Week that started on April 13. The theme for this year's week is “Firemen – Your Partners to Save Life and Property.”

The awareness campaigns on the week's agenda include training activities to equip taxi drivers, loaders, cargo partners and other stakeholders at the airport to operate basic fire fighting equipment. Fire safety education is also given to the neighbouring communities.

During the week, the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel educated children of government schools in the vicinity about fire safety measures. They were educated on the measures to be taken to safeguard their lives in case of fire accidents.

As part of the training exercises conducted since 2008 at the airport, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel also undergo advanced training in fire-fighting.
