‘Baahubali-2: The Conclusion’ has created another record in the history of Indian cinema. More than 2.5 lakh people watched the teaser of the film’s songs within 90 seconds of its release on Saturday.

“There was a worldwide release of the teaser of songs at 5 pm at Lahari Recording Compony (LRC). Over two lakh people watched the teaser within 1.5 minutes. It’s a record in the history of Indian cinema,” Lahari Velu of the LRC told DH. The company bagged the film’s audio rights for Rs 4.5 crore, the highest-ever in South India. It had bought the audio rights of ‘Baahubali-1’ for Rs 3 crore. The film’s audio was released in Hyderabad on March 28. So far, more than 50 lakh people have listened to each of the five songs, which again is the highest for any Indian film. LRC plans to release all five songs in full visual form on April 30.

“We estimate that each song will be watched by over 5 crore people across the globe. It’s a matter of pride that a Kannadiga has bagged the audio rights,” Velu said.

Producers — Kovelamudi Raghavendra Ra, Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni — have decided to release the film across Karnataka. They have reached an agreement with Sudheer Films for 2% commission. The number of theatres screening the film will be decided by Sunday. The distribution rights for Karnataka were finalised for Rs 50 crore. LRC bargained for Rs 36 crore — the highest for any Indian film in Karnataka — but the deal did not come through. Distribution houses in the state didn’t come forward to buy the screening rights as they were wary of Kannada organisations’ threat to disrupt its exhibition. The government order on capping multiplex ticket prices at Rs 200, which is expected to come into force next week, could hit earnings.

What went on behind the scenes
‘Baahubali-2’ director S S Rajamouli’s father Vijayendra Prasad’s persistent efforts have paid off. After convincing Tamil actor Sathyaraj to regret an old remark on Kannadigas, Prasad requested Lahari Velu to resolve the issue. Velu convinced leaders of Kannada organisations to end the row.
