Last Updated 01 May 2017, 19:41 IST

Some parts of the city on Monday received light rain while there was drizzle in some other parts, bringing down the temperature. The HAL airport recorded 13.4 mm of rain till 8.30 pm. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control room did not receive any complaints till 7 pm.

On Sunday, the city received 1.3 mm rainfall, while HAL airport recorded trace rainfall and international airport did not receive any rain. IMD has forecast thunder showers over the city and parts of south interior Karnataka for the next two days. This, according to the IMD officials, is because of wind discontinuity from north Telangana to Maldive area across Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.

Bengaluru received 47.8 mm of rain in March, against the normal of 9.4 mm. In April, the city recorded 30.4 mm rainfall against the normal of 44 mm. For the month of May, the normal rainfall for the city is 115.9 mm. “Since there are more system formations in the sea and it marks the onset of south west monsoon, the rainfall will be high, during May” the official explained.
