India on Wednesday summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and provided him evidence on Pakistan Army personnel’s involvement in the barbaric killing of two Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC).

Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar handed strongly-worded démarche to Basit which noted that India considered the incident as “a strong act of provocation” by Pakistan.

The blood samples collected from the slain soldiers and the trail of blood from the scene of killing up to a spot near the LoC clearly proved that the killers had returned to Pakistan after their barbaric act, Jaishankar told Basit.

The foreign secretary conveyed India’s outrage over the incident and asked Pakistan “to take immediate action against its soldiers and commanders responsible for this heinous act”.

“New Delhi made it clear to Islamabad that the barbaric mutilation of the mortal remains of the slain Indian soldiers by Pakistan Army personnel had been in contravention to all norms of civilised world,” Gopal Baglay, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, said.

“Blood samples of Indian soldiers that have been collected and the trail of blood on Roza Nala clearly shows that the killers returned across the LoC,” Baglay quoted the foreign secretary telling Basit.

Jaishankar also pointed out to Basit that the attack along the LoC had been preceded by covering fire from Pakistani posts in Buttal sector.

Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh of 22 Sikh Infantry and Head Constable Prem Sagar of 200th Battalion of BSF were brutally killed by Pakistan Border Action Team on Monday.

Denial not credible: Jaitley
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday asserted that Pakistan Army’s denial to have any its role in mutilating the bodies of two Indian soldiers carried no credibility, DHNS reports.

“The denial itself carries no credibility. This can't happen without protection  or participation or actual indulgence of the Pakistan Army itself,” Jaitley said after a Cabinet meeting.

On such a heavily guarded border where posts are located close by, this could not happen without the support of the Pakistan Army, which provided cover fire, he said.

Asked about the responses from Indian Army, Jaitley said, “Apni fauj par bharosa rakhiye (Have faith on your own Army).”
