Hubballi man is Arcelor Mittal's Czech firm CEO

Ashok Patil from Hubballi has been appointed the chief executive officer (CEO) of Arcelor Mittal’s iron ore firm, situated at Ostrava in Czech Republic.

Patil was serving as the general manager and member of the board of directors of the firm, earlier. Last Monday, he was elevated to the post of CEO. Arcelor Mittal’s firm at Ostrava produces two million tonnes of iron annually and serves customers in the Czech Republic and 30 other countries across the world.

Born and brought up in Hubballi, Patil completed his primary education at the Rotary School here. He studied Mechanical Engineering at BVB Engineering College in the city and was a topper from Karnatak University. Later, he studied MBA (Finance and Marketing) at Manipal.

He joined the steel giant in 2001 and served in various positions in the company at Bengaluru, New Delhi and Mumbai offices, before moving to the Czech Republic.

Patil’s parents — Veerupakshagouda and Sharada — are from Kundagol taluk in Dharwad district.
