Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Shoes Adesh Gupta called on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru and sought that the state government come out with a policy for the footwear industry.
According to a release from the Chief Minister’s Office, Gupta said that coming out with a such a policy will help in attracting investment from the footwear industry to set up shops in the state. Besides, it will also help in generating employment.
Gupta also expressed concern that footwears would become more expensive in the Goods and Service Taxes (GST) regime.
Siddaramaiah said he will take up the issue in the next GST Council meeting.
