Can't take RCB for granted, says Katich

While agreeing that Royal Challengers Bangalore were a little down on confidence, Kolkata Knight Riders’ assistant coach Simon Katich warned his team against erring on the side of caution. Kolkata take on Bangalore here on Sunday in an afternoon match.

“The thing about this competition is that anyone can play well on any given day,” he said. “You can’t take anything for granted. Regardless of what has been happening with RCB the last few games, yes their confidence is probably down a bit, but things can turn around quickly in this format. If someone has a good day with the bat or someone has a good spell with the ball, the pressure can be on you. We certainly know that we have to walk out tomorrow and play some proper cricket because there are some quality players in that RCB team.”

Katich dismissed a suggestion that RCB would be an easy prey for KKR. “There's no such thing as an easy prey in T20. If you don't turn up with the right attitude and start afresh, you can be paying the price. That showed in the last game, when we played Pune (Supergiant). We had a slow start with the bat and didn't execute our plans, particularly after the powerplay finished. We paid the price, ended up getting a low score.”

While Katich wasn’t sure about Robin Uthappa’s return after the in-form Karnataka batsman missed the last match due to a hamstring injury, he sounded positive about Chris Lynn’s comeback from a shoulder injury.
