Last Updated 03 June 2009, 16:54 IST

Large screens will be placed at four places within the KEA premises in Malleswaram, Bangalore for a live update on seat availability in the professional colleges across the State.

The first batch of candidates to enter the yet-to-be-completed new look KEA building will be the disabled students. “A panel of three doctors will examine the students of their disability, based on which we will accept their physical disability certificates and allot them the seats,” said KEA Administrative Officer S P Kulkarni.

The morning session has been reserved for the medical examination of the disabled while the afternoon sessions are marked for selection of Medical, Dental and Indian System of Medicine (ISM) and Engineering seats. The following seats reserved for the physically challenged: Medical - 13; Dental - 3; ISM & H - 1 and Engineering - 130.
One seat per minute

The KEA authorities in its counselling session will be under pressure as they will have to allot one seat every one minute. “In our mock drills however, we have timed 1minute and 30 seconds per candidate. Perhaps it is because of the new staff in Gulbarga and Hubli who have been recruited to conduct counselling there,” said a KEA official.

This year, the KEA will be conducting counselling sessions in Hubli and Gulbarga for the first time where they expect at least 10-12,000 students to select their seat from there, based on their ranking. The ranking will be updated real time via video link.
