Vet staff protest demanding implementation of C & R rules

Last Updated 16 May 2017, 19:31 IST
Veterinary doctors, veterinary live stock inspectors and other staff of Veterinary department started an indefinite stir in Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday, urging the government to implement Cadre and Recruitment rules.

Department staff from various parts of the district, assembled near the Veterinary department deputy director’s office at IG Road and staged a protest meet. Addressing the protestors, Veterinary Staff Association district unit president Dr A B Prabhakar said that around 15,000 staff and officials have been deprived of promotions as the department has not been reconstituted. The government, which has reconstituted the Agriculture and Ayurveda departments, has been showing step-motherly attitude towards the Veterinary department. Even though the notification in this regard has been issued in 2012, it has not been implemented and the pay hike of department staff has not come to effect.

Even though memorandum has been submitted to Animal Husbandry Minister A Manju several times, the demand has not been fulfilled. Veterinary Live Stock Inspectors’ Association district president H B Padmegowda, senior veterinary live stock inspectors M Haleshappa and H Dakshayanamma were present.
