Cops arrest gang of robbers

The North Division police arrested eight people who were involved in chain snatchings and robberies. The police recovered valuables and vehicles worth Rs. 3.5 lakh and also seized weapons from them.

The arrested were identified as Mohammad Yasin (23), Anil Pappanna (22), Gautham Krishnamurthy (26), all residents of Yeshwantpur; Santhosh Murthy (23), a resident of Nandini Layout; Lokesh Gopalareddy (21), Chetan Nagaraj (20), both residents of Nelamangala; Arun Subramani (21), a resident of Rajagopalanagar, and Suresh Yengappa (22) of Goraguntepalya.

The  Srirampuram police, on May 19, received a tip-off from one of their informants that a gang of robbers with lethal weapons was targeting motorists and commuters near Fort Liquor shop road behind Britannia biscuit factory compound at around 5 am.

The police rushed to the spot and arrested the suspects. Upon interrogation, they found out that the suspects were also involved in other robbery cases registered in Mandya. On April 28, the suspects Santosh and Suresh had burgled the house of a single woman near Yeshwantpur, the interrogation revealed.
