Ambedkar statue in C'magalur city soon

  Addressing the preparatory meeting held for birth anniversary celebration of Dr B R Ambedkar and Babu Jagjeevanram, at his office recently, DC said that a decision has been taken to install the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar in Zilla Panchayat office premises and the statue is being made at Chennai. The statue is expected to arrive before April 14.

He said that the market road in the city has been already named as ‘Dr B R Ambedkar road’. He directed the Town Municipal Council Officials to see to it that shops rewrite the address on the name boards as ‘Dr B R Ambedkar road’ mandatorily. He instructed them to impose penalty on those shopkeepers for failing to rewrite the address.

Instructing that the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar must be put up in all Government offices, he said that birth anniversary of Babu Jagjeevan Ram will be celebrated on April 5 and birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar will be held on April 14 at Ambedkar Bhavan. He further called upon all the Social Welfare Officials and Tahshildars to celebrate the birth anniversaries of these two great leaders at taluk-level.
