A 31-year-old Indian and his son were found dead in a suburban Detroit pool located in the Glens of Northville apartment complex in Novi on Wednesday.

According to American Telangana Association representatives, Nagaraju Surepalli and his three-year-old son Anant Sai were found floating in the complex pool around 4 pm, with the child’s tricycle at the bottom of the pool.

While there were no witnesses to the incident, a couple who was passing by the apartment complex saw the floating bodies and informed the police.

According to reports, Surepalli, a resident of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh, was an employee of Infosys on a work visa in the US. The child might have accidentally fallen into the pool while riding his tricycle on the deck.

“Initial findings suggested that the father, who is not conversant with swimming, might have dived in to save the child and drowned,” Novi Police chief said in a statement.

“This particular pool does not staff a lifeguard and they were the only occupants in the pool area,” the statement read.

Novi Police dispatches said paramedics and the police tried to revive the father and son first before rushing them to Providence Park Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, a pal of gloom descended on Surepalli’s home in Guntur, where his ailing mother Subhanamma and father Sivalingayya reside.
